The trade-off is you lose that excellent EVF and pay more. The Olympus OM-5 shares the Micro Four Thirds mount and offers weather sealing plus better build quality, though it costs more and isn't really aimed at vloggers. If you are coming from a smartphone and want the easiest path to better video, the G100D wins on simplicity. If you are upgrading from another mirrorless camera, the Sony is the safer bet.

At $325 to $986 across vendors, this thing is a steal at the low end and overpriced at the high end. Newegg Canada has bundles with memory cards and bags that make the math work. But if you're paying near $900, you're in Sony a6600 territory and that camera will outperform the G100D in almost every meaningful way. The sweet spot is under $500 for the body-only or base kit, and at that price it's worth considering for vloggers who prioritize portability over everything else.

If you need to shoot for more than 30 minutes at a time, do wildlife or sports, or work in unpredictable weather, this isn't it. Go get the Sony a6600 or the Olympus OM-5 instead. You'll spend more but you won't spend it on batteries and regret.

The G100D is a niche tool for a specific buyer: the vlogger who wants mirrorless quality without the weight penalty, shoots in controlled environments, and keeps spare batteries handy. Everyone else should look at the Sony a6600 or spend more on something weather-sealed.
