Performance
The 100Hz refresh rate is a nice touch at this price, and it makes scrolling and window dragging feel noticeably smoother than a standard 60Hz panel. But the 8ms response time tells the real story. This is not a speed demon. In our database, its performance sits in the 35th percentile, which is mediocre for a monitor marketed with gaming-adjacent specs. The 300 nits of brightness and 99% sRGB coverage are the real stars here. Colors look vivid without being oversaturated, and the IPS panel keeps things consistent from edge to edge. The built-in speakers are louder than expected, which is a pleasant surprise for a monitor in this class.

vs Competition
The LG UltraGear 27GS75Q-B is the obvious step up if you want 1440p and a faster panel, but you'll pay more for it. The ASUS TUF Gaming VG27VQMY is a better pick for actual gaming with its faster response time, though it's a VA panel so colors won't be as consistent. The MSI MAG 274CF X24 is another gaming-focused option that beats the Dell on speed but costs more. For pure office work and media consumption, the Dell holds its own against all of them at a lower price. The GTek and KTC options are cheaper but you're gambling on build quality and warranty support.

Value & Pricing
Pricing is all over the place right now. We're seeing listings from USD 42 to USD 193 across seven US vendors. At the low end, this is an absolute steal. At the high end, you're paying too much for what you get. If you can snag it under USD 100, buy without hesitation. The Best Buy open box listings are where the real deals are hiding. Just make sure you're not paying more than USD 120 for a new unit, because at that point you're creeping into 1440p territory.

Overview
The Dell S2725H is a 27-inch 1080p IPS monitor that nails the basics and skips the frills. It's bright, color-accurate, and surprisingly pleasant to look at for a budget panel. The one thing to know: this is a workhorse for everyday use, not a gaming monitor, despite the 100Hz refresh rate. If you want a big, clear screen for documents, spreadsheets, and the occasional YouTube binge, this thing delivers. Just don't expect it to blow your socks off in fast-paced games.
Common Questions
Q: Is this monitor good for gaming?
For casual gaming, sure. The 100Hz refresh rate helps, but the 8ms response time means you'll see ghosting in fast-paced games. If you play competitive shooters, get something with 1ms response time instead.
Q: Can I mount this on a monitor arm?
Yes, it has a standard VESA 100x100 mount. The included stand only tilts, so if you want height adjustment or rotation, a monitor arm is the way to go.
Q: Is 1080p on a 27-inch screen too blurry?
It's not ideal. Text looks a bit soft if you sit close. But for normal desk distances, most people won't notice. If you do a lot of reading or design work, consider a 1440p monitor instead.
Who Should Skip This
If you're a gamer looking for fast response times and high refresh rates, this isn't it. Go get the ASUS TUF Gaming VG27VQMY or the MSI MAG 274CF X24 instead. And if you need USB-C connectivity for a laptop setup, look elsewhere. This monitor is for people who want a big, bright screen for everyday tasks without spending a fortune.
Verdict
The Dell S2725H is a solid buy for anyone who needs a reliable, good-looking monitor for work, school, or casual use. It's not a gaming monitor, and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something. But for the price, especially if you find a deal under USD 100, it's hard to beat. The picture quality is genuinely good, the speakers are a bonus, and the 100Hz refresh rate makes everyday tasks feel just a bit nicer. Buy it for the office, not the battlestation.
