LG C5 Series OLED55C5PUA 55"

Performance
We were genuinely surprised by the audio. A 2.2 channel, 60W setup in a flat TV has no business sounding this good. It ranks in the 96th percentile in our database, which is basically unheard of for built-in TV speakers. You get real weight and Dolby Atmos height effects that make dialogue crisp and action scenes punchy. On the visual side, the Alpha 9 Gen8 processor handles motion beautifully, and that 0.1ms response time with full 4K 120Hz support makes this a best-in-class gaming display. It's not just fast, it's the absolute best right now.

vs Competition
The Sony BRAVIA 5 is the main rival here, and it'll give you slightly better out-of-the-box color accuracy and upscaling for cable TV. But the LG fights back with four full HDMI 2.1 ports to Sony's usual two, and a gaming feature set that's just more complete. The TCL QM8K is a tempting budget alternative with insane brightness, but it's a Mini-LED, so you'll never get those perfect per-pixel blacks. For pure movie nights in a dark room, the C5's OLED panel wins. The Samsung Frame Pro is a lifestyle choice, not a performance rival.

Value & Pricing
Pricing is all over the map, from $370 to $1800 across vendors, so shop carefully. At the lower end of that spread, this is a steal. You're getting a flagship-tier OLED experience for less than many premium LED TVs. If you can snag it closer to that $370 mark, just buy it and don't look back.

Overview
The LG C5 is the OLED that makes you question why you'd ever spend more. It takes the incredible contrast and perfect blacks LG is famous for, cranks the brightness up to 1500 nits, and wraps it in a package that's a joy to use. The one thing to know? This is a top-tier gaming and movie-watching machine that somehow also has built-in speakers you won't immediately want to throw in the trash.
Common Questions
Q: Can I use this TV with my PS5 and Xbox Series X at full quality?
Absolutely. All four HDMI ports are full 2.1 bandwidth, so you get 4K at 120Hz, VRR, and ALLM on every single one. No juggling cables or sacrificing your soundbar's eARC port.
Q: Do I really need a soundbar with this TV?
Honestly, probably not. The 60W 2.2 channel system with Dolby Atmos is one of the best we've heard built into a TV. Unless you're a serious audiophile or want room-shaking bass, give the internal speakers a shot first.
Q: Is the jump from a C4 or older OLED worth it?
If you're coming from a C1 or C2, yes, the brightness bump to 1500 nits is a game-changer for HDR impact. From a C4, it's a smaller step up, mostly in processing and slightly better brightness. Wait for a sale.
Who Should Skip This
If you're looking for a bright-room warrior to fight intense glare, this isn't it. While brighter than older OLEDs, a high-end Mini-LED like the Hisense U8 will punch through window reflections much better. And if you have zero patience for quirky user interfaces, the magic remote might drive you to the Sony camp.
Verdict
The LG C5 is the sweet spot in the 2025 OLED lineup. It delivers 95% of the G5's brightness and performance for a lot less cash. Unless you absolutely need a TV that hangs flush like a painting or you're a professional colorist who demands Sony's processing, this is the TV to get. The remote is annoying, but the picture is so good you'll forgive it.
