Performance
The M1 chip surprised us by making 8GB of RAM feel less painful than it should. Apple's unified memory juggles a dozen browser tabs and light photo edits without breaking a sweat. But push it with 4K video timelines or heavy multitasking and that 8GB ceiling shows up fast. The fanless design means zero noise, which is still a flex most Windows laptops can't match.

vs Competition
Against the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 or Lenovo Legion 5i, the Air gets destroyed in gaming and raw GPU power, but those machines are twice the price and sound like jet engines. The Samsung Galaxy Book5 Pro is the closest Windows rival with a better screen, but it costs more and can't touch Apple's battery optimization. If you need Windows or real gaming, skip the Air. If you want a silent, reliable workhorse, the Air wins.

Value & Pricing

Overview
The M1 MacBook Air is the laptop that made everyone else look silly. Even years after launch, this fanless little slab still feels snappy for everyday work, and the battery life remains absurd. The one thing to know? It's still the best ultraportable value out there if you don't need Windows or serious gaming.
Common Questions
Q: Is 8GB of RAM enough for the M1 MacBook Air?
For browsing, writing, streaming, and light photo work, yes. If you're editing 4K video or running tons of apps at once, you'll feel the squeeze. Get 16GB if you can find it.
Q: Can the M1 MacBook Air play games?
Casual stuff like Stardew Valley or Hades runs fine. AAA titles? Forget it. This is not a gaming laptop, and the 8-core GPU is best for everyday graphics, not ray tracing.
Q: Is the refurbished model worth buying?
Absolutely. Apple's refurbished units are basically new, and at CAD 999, you're getting a reliable machine for hundreds less than a new Windows equivalent.
Who Should Skip This
If you're a gamer, video editor working with 4K footage, or someone who needs more than 256GB of storage without external drives, this isn't it. Go grab a Lenovo Legion 5i or a MacBook with 16GB RAM and 512GB storage instead.
Verdict
Buy it. The M1 MacBook Air is still the default answer for anyone who wants a laptop that just works, lasts all day, and doesn't cost a fortune. The 8GB RAM and 256GB storage are the only real compromises, and for most people, they're fine.
