Dell P3424WE 34.1" Black 2024

Performance
The 3440 x 1440 resolution on a 34-inch panel gives you a ton of horizontal real estate, and the 99% sRGB coverage means colors look accurate enough for everyday work. But the 60Hz refresh rate and 5ms response time put it in the bottom fifth of monitors in our database for performance. That's fine for email and Excel, but fast motion looks smeary. The 300 nits brightness is also just okay, fine for a normal office but not great near a bright window.

vs Competition
The P3424WE doesn't really compete with the gaming monitors in our database like the ASUS ROG Strix XG27UCDMG or the MSI MAG 271QPX QD-OLED E2. Those are 27-inch OLED panels built for speed and contrast, and they'll crush this Dell in any gaming or HDR scenario. But they also cost more and lack the ultrawide aspect ratio. If you want a big curved screen for work and don't care about refresh rate, the Dell makes sense. If you want a monitor that does double duty for gaming, the LG UltraGear 27GX790A-B or Samsung Odyssey G60SD are better picks.

Prix
Value & Pricing
Pricing is all over the place, from USD 290 to USD 700 across three US listings. At the low end, this is a solid deal for a big ultrawide with a USB-C hub. At the high end, you're getting fleeced. The Newegg listing is the one to watch if you want the best shot at the lower end of that range. Keep the amounts in USD and don't pay more than USD 400 for this thing.

Overview
The Dell P3424WE is a 34-inch ultrawide built for spreadsheets, not speed. It's a 60Hz IPS panel with a gentle 3800R curve, a built-in USB-C hub, and an RJ45 port, which makes it a tidy docking station replacement for office work. The one thing to know? This is a productivity monitor through and through. If you're hoping to game on it, keep walking.
Common Questions
Q: Can I use this monitor for gaming?
You can, but you won't love it. The 60Hz refresh rate and 5ms response time mean fast games will look blurry and feel laggy. This is a work monitor, not a gaming one.
Q: Does the USB-C port charge my laptop?
Yes, the USB-C port supports power delivery, so you can charge your laptop and connect the display with one cable. The RJ45 port also gives you wired ethernet through that same connection, which is a nice touch for docking setups.
Q: Is the curve too aggressive?
No, the 3800R curve is pretty gentle. It's enough to wrap the screen around your field of view without distorting straight lines too much, which is good for spreadsheets and design work.
Who Should Skip This
If you're looking for a gaming monitor, this isn't it. Go get an LG UltraGear 27GX790A-B or a Samsung Odyssey G60SD instead. And if you need something portable or compact, the P3424WE's 10kg weight and 34-inch footprint will drive you nuts.
Verdict
The Dell P3424WE is a purpose-built office monitor that nails the basics: big screen, good color, and a USB-C hub that cleans up your desk. It's not exciting, but it's not trying to be. If you can find it near USD 300, it's a smart buy for productivity. If you're paying more than USD 450, you should look elsewhere.
