Stacked against the Hisense U8 Series, the UT75 gets smoked on HDR brightness and gaming features, but it fights back with a cleaner smart TV interface and better out-of-the-box sound. The TCL QM8K is in a different league entirely for picture quality, but it also costs a lot more. The Roku Plus Series is a closer rival in price and spirit, but its Roku OS is ad-heavy compared to webOS. If you just want a big, good-looking screen for streaming movies and shows, the UT75 holds its own, but if you game or want the best HDR, look at the Hisense or TCL.

Pricing on this set is all over the place, ranging from $400 to $669 depending on where you look. At the low end, you're getting a 65-inch TV with a great picture and surprisingly good sound for less than a mid-range soundbar. That's a genuine deal. At $669, you're creeping into territory where competitors offer better HDR and gaming features. If you can snag it at the lower end of that spread, it's a solid value play, just budget an extra $50 for a universal remote or LG's Magic Remote.

The LG UT75 is a 65-inch 4K TV that gets the basics right where it counts. The LG UT75 is a frustratingly good TV trapped behind a terrible remote. If you're willing to spend a little extra on a replacement clicker, you'll get a big, beautiful screen with great sound and a slick smart TV platform for a very fair price. It's perfect for a secondary living room, a bedroom, or anyone who just wants a no-fuss streaming setup. Just know that the out-of-box experience is marred by LG's baffling decision to ship it with a remote that feels like a cruel joke.
