Poly EncorePro HW520
The dual-ear, closed-back design with active noise cancellation keeps call center agents focused in noisy home offices, while the 167g weight ensures all-day comfort. Poly Quick Disconnect technology and compatibility with Poly Digital Adapters simplify switching between devices, and durable cabling plus acoustic protection that manages safe volume add reliability. This wired headset suits remote call center employees using Avaya, Genesys, or Cisco platforms who prioritize clear calls over music playback.

The 30-Second Version
A call center specialist that's comfy and focused, but sounds terrible for music. Buy it for work, not for fun.

Performance
Comfort is the star here, landing in the 87th percentile. At 167 grams, it's light enough to forget you're wearing it, which matters when you're on hour six of back-to-back calls. The ANC is solid too, sitting in the 73rd percentile, enough to mute a noisy home office. The mic is about average at the 65th percentile, which is fine for call center work but won't win any podcast awards. The real surprise is how bad the sound is for anything other than voices. Music sounds flat and lifeless, and the build quality feels flimsy for something meant to survive daily abuse.

vs Competition
The Sony ULT WEAR WHULT900N/B and JBL Tune 670NC are both wireless, sound dramatically better, and cost around the same or less. But they're not built for call center life. The EncorePro HW520's Quick Disconnect and platform integration with Avaya, Genesys, and Cisco make it the boring but correct choice for IT managers. The Soundcore Life Q20 and TOZO HT3 are better all-rounders if you want music and calls, but they lack the enterprise chops. Beyerdynamic Aventho is in a different league for sound, but you'll pay for it.

Value & Pricing
Pricing is all over the map. In Europe, you'll see it listed anywhere from EUR 68 to EUR 110 depending on the store, which is a huge spread for the same headset. The US listing sits at USD 52, but don't compare currencies directly. If you're in Europe, shop around and grab the EUR 68 deal if you can find it. For a dedicated call center tool, that's reasonable. For anything else, it's overpriced.

Overview
The Poly EncorePro HW520 is a call center workhorse, not a lifestyle headphone. It's built for one thing: taking calls all day without your ears bleeding or your IT department yelling at you. The dual-ear design and ANC keep distractions out, and the Quick Disconnect system means you can swap between desk phone and PC without unplugging a rat's nest. But if you're hoping to sneak in some Spotify between calls, keep walking. This thing scores a 20 out of 100 for music, and our database backs that up.
Common Questions
Q: Can I use this with my smartphone?
Technically yes, if you have the right adapter, but it's wired and designed for desk phones and PCs. You'll be happier with a Bluetooth headset for your phone.
Q: Is the ANC strong enough for a noisy office?
It's decent, 73rd percentile in our database. It'll knock down background chatter and keyboard clatter, but don't expect Bose-level silence.
Q: Will this work with my company's call center software?
If you're on Avaya, Genesys, or Cisco, yes. That's the whole point of this headset. If you're on something else, check with IT before buying.
Who Should Skip This
If you're looking for a headset to listen to music or watch videos after work, this isn't it. Go get a Sony ULT WEAR or JBL Tune 670NC instead. The EncorePro HW520 is a single-purpose tool, and that purpose is talking on the phone.
Verdict
Buy the Poly EncorePro HW520 if your job is literally talking on the phone all day and your company uses Poly-compatible systems. It's comfortable, the ANC helps, and the Quick Disconnect is genuinely useful. But if you want one headset for work and play, this isn't it. The music performance is so bad it's almost funny.
