It's a cheap laptop with a ridiculous 40GB of RAM. Buy it if you need memory above all else, but everyone else should run from that terrible screen.

The Ryzen 7 7730U is a solid workhorse, not a racehorse. It chews through spreadsheets and dozens of browser tabs without breaking a sweat, thanks mostly to that frankly absurd 40GB of DDR4. The real surprise is that the integrated Radeon Graphics are actually decent for light gaming. We're not talking Cyberpunk at max settings, but older titles and indie games run surprisingly smoothly. The 1TB SSD is snappy, putting it well above average for storage speed in our database. Just don't expect to do any serious AI work on this thing, it's a total dud in that department.

The obvious competitor is the HP OmniBook X Flip, which will give you a vastly superior screen and a more premium feel, but with half the RAM. If you're even glancing at the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14, you're in a different league of performance and price, so just go there if you have the budget. The MSI Prestige is a more direct rival for business users, offering a better balance of portability and screen quality, but again, you won't find 40GB of RAM at this price. This Lenovo is a one-trick pony, and that trick is memory capacity.

For $899, you're paying for that 40GB of RAM and the 1TB SSD. The rest of the laptop is a $500 machine. If you absolutely need that much memory in a cheap, no-frills package for running VMs or heavy data analysis, it's a fair trade. If you just want a good all-around laptop, your money is better spent elsewhere on a machine with a nicer screen and better build quality.

The Lenovo V15 is a weird beast. It's a budget business laptop that someone crammed 40GB of RAM into, and honestly, that's the whole story. If you're a tab hoarder, a virtual machine tinkerer, or just someone who never wants to see a "memory full" warning again, this thing is a strangely compelling deal. But that massive RAM upgrade is doing a lot of heavy lifting to distract you from a very mediocre screen and a chassis that feels every bit its budget price.

If you care at all about screen quality for watching movies or photo editing, this isn't it. The display is one of the weakest parts of the package. Go get an HP OmniBook or a used MacBook Air instead. You'll lose the RAM but gain a screen you can actually stand to look at all day.

The Lenovo V15 is a niche machine that makes a lot of sense for a very specific person. If your workflow is bottlenecked by RAM and you're on a strict budget, this is a uniquely good buy. For everyone else, the mediocre screen and cheap build quality are dealbreakers. You can get a much more well-rounded laptop for the same money, just with less memory. Buy this for the RAM, or don't buy it at all.
