AMD Ryzen 7 7700X 8-core AM5
Why we recommend this ▼
With 8 Zen 4 cores boosting to 5.4 GHz and an 80 MB cache, this unlocked chip pushes past 100 FPS in demanding games on the AM5 platform. Its support for DDR5-5200 and PCIe 5.0 on 600-series boards provides a forward-looking foundation without requiring flagship pricing. This processor is best for pure gaming rig builders who prioritize high frame rates over multi-threaded workstation tasks.
AMD Ryzen 5 5000 Series 5600T 6-core AM4
Why we recommend this ▼
The 7nm Zen 3 architecture delivers strong efficiency with a 65W TDP and a 4.5GHz boost clock, making it a cool-running option for existing AM4 systems. Its 32MB of L3 cache and bundled Wraith Stealth cooler provide solid out-of-the-box value for a drop-in upgrade. This processor is best for budget-conscious PC builders seeking a capable 6-core, 12-thread chip for productivity workloads without needing a discrete GPU.
AMD Ryzen 5 4600G
Why we recommend this ▼
The 7nm Zen 2 architecture delivers 6 cores and 12 threads with a 4.2 GHz boost, plus integrated Radeon graphics that eliminate the need for a separate GPU in basic builds. Its 65W TDP and unlocked multiplier make it a power-efficient choice for compact systems, while the bundled Wraith Stealth cooler keeps setup costs low. Best for budget-conscious builders assembling entry-level gaming or office PCs who want solid integrated graphics and upgrade headroom on the AM4 platform.
AMD FX 9590 8-core AMD Socket AM3+
Why we recommend this ▼
The FX-9590 pushes an 8-core Vishera design to a 5.0GHz boost clock on the aging AM3+ socket, but its 220W TDP demands liquid cooling and a high-end motherboard. Its unlocked multiplier and 8MB of L3 cache offer overclocking headroom for legacy DDR3 systems, though efficiency scores just 29/100. This CPU suits budget builders reviving old AM3+ rigs for basic multithreaded tasks, not modern gaming or power-conscious users.
AMD Ryzen Threadripper 1920X 12-core sTR4
Why we recommend this ▼
The 12-core, 24-thread design with 64 PCIe 3.0 lanes delivers strong parallel throughput for multi-threaded workloads, backed by a 4.0GHz boost clock. Its unlocked multiplier and quad-channel DDR4 ECC support offer accessible overclocking and memory flexibility on the sTR4 platform. This processor suits budget-conscious workstation users running virtual machines or heavy batch rendering who need high core counts more than single-thread speed.
AMD A Series A12-9800E 4-core AM4
Why we recommend this ▼
The integrated Radeon R7 graphics on this 35W Bristol Ridge APU provide basic DirectX 12 and FreeSync support without a discrete GPU. Its 3.8GHz quad-core design and included boxed cooler make it a simple, low-cost drop-in upgrade for AM4 motherboards. This processor is best for users building a basic home theater PC or a budget desktop strictly for undemanding e-sports titles and web browsing.
