JBL Tour One M2

Flagship ANC at a mid-range price. Just don't twist the earcups like you're wringing out a towel.

The 40mm dynamic drivers push out a sound signature that's classic JBL: punchy bass, clear highs, and enough energy to make pop and hip-hop fun. Sound quality lands in the 87th percentile, which is strong but not class-leading. What surprised us most was the battery. 50 hours is a real number, and the quick charge giving you 5 hours from 10 minutes is genuinely useful. The ANC is the star though. True Adaptive tech actually works, adjusting in real-time without you thinking about it. Call quality is solid too, with the 4-mic setup handling wind better than most.

Against the Sony ULT WEAR, the JBL wins on battery life and ANC refinement, but Sony's bass-heavy tuning might appeal more to bass heads. The Technics EAH-A800 is a closer fight, with slightly better build quality but weaker ANC. The Sennheiser HDB 630 is the audiophile pick with cleaner sound, but it can't touch the JBL's noise cancellation. If you want the best all-rounder for travel and commuting, the Tour One M2 is the pick. If you're a studio listener who cares about flat response, look elsewhere.

At USD 165 to USD 231 depending on the vendor, this is a steal. The spread is real, so shop around. The lower end of that range gets you ANC that competes with headphones costing twice as much. If you can find it near USD 165, it's a no-brainer. Even at the higher end, you're still undercutting the Sony WH-1000XM5 by a wide margin.

The JBL Tour One M2 is the pair of headphones you buy when you want flagship-level noise cancellation without paying Bose or Sony flagship money. The ANC here is genuinely top-tier, sitting in the 98th percentile of everything we've tested. That's the headline. But the story gets more interesting when you look at the whole package: 50 hours of battery, a solid mic setup, and sound that's well above average. It's not perfect, and we'll get into the durability concerns, but for most people this is a smarter buy than spending an extra $150 on a brand name.

If you're hard on your gear or you toss your headphones into a bag without a case, skip these. The rotating hinges and plastic finish have a track record of failing under rough treatment. Go get the Sony WH-1000XM5 or the Bose QuietComfort Ultra instead if you need something that can take a beating. Also, if you listen at ear-bleeding volumes, the max output here will leave you wanting more.

The JBL Tour One M2 is the best value in premium wireless ANC right now. The noise cancellation is elite, the battery is ridiculous, and the sound is fun without being sloppy. The durability concerns are real, so treat them with care, but for the price, this is the pair we'd recommend to almost anyone who flies, commutes, or just wants to disappear into their music.
