Performance
The 100Hz refresh rate is a nice step up from the standard 60Hz office panel, making scrolling and window dragging feel noticeably smoother. The 8ms response time is fine for productivity and casual use, but it's not a gaming panel. Color coverage hits 99% sRGB, which is solid for everyday work, though the 250 nits brightness and lack of HDR mean it won't wow you in a bright room. In our database, performance lands in the 35th percentile, which is about what you'd expect for a budget-friendly office monitor. The built-in speakers are the real surprise here. Dual 5W drivers with six audio presets actually sound decent, which is rare for monitor speakers.

vs Competition
Against the ASUS TUF Gaming VG27VQMY and LG UltraGear 27GS75Q-B, the Dell S2425H is not trying to compete on gaming specs. Those monitors offer higher refresh rates and bigger screens, but they cost more and skip the built-in speakers. The BenQ MOBIUZ EX251 is a closer rival, also targeting casual users with decent audio. The HP EliteDisplay E243i is the office workhorse alternative, but it's more expensive and less stylish. The Dell wins on simplicity and user satisfaction, not raw specs.

Value & Pricing
Pricing is all over the place. In the US, we're seeing listings from USD 34 to USD 280 across eight vendors. That's a massive spread. If you can snag it near the low end, it's an absolute steal. At the high end, you're paying too much for what you get. Best Buy has open box options that could land you a great deal. In Canada, the range is tighter at CAD 150 to CAD 190, which feels more reasonable. Shop around before you commit.

Overview
The Dell S2425H is a 24-inch 1080p IPS monitor aimed squarely at people who want a clean, simple upgrade for their desk. It's not chasing gamers or color nerds. It's chasing the person who wants a sharp screen, decent speakers, and zero hassle. And honestly, it nails that brief.
Dell packed in a 100Hz refresh rate, dual 5W speakers, and a slim design with a textured back inspired by Japanese sand raking. Fancy. The spec sheet is modest, but the user sentiment is through the roof. People genuinely like this thing.
Common Questions
Q: Is this monitor good for gaming?
It's fine for casual gaming thanks to the 100Hz refresh rate, but the 8ms response time and lack of adaptive sync mean serious gamers should look elsewhere.
Q: Does it have a webcam for video calls?
No, there's no built-in camera. You'll need a separate webcam if you do a lot of video conferencing.
Q: Can I mount this on a monitor arm?
Yes, it has a standard VESA 100x100 mount, so it works with most monitor arms and wall mounts.
Who Should Skip This
Skip this if you need a gaming monitor with high refresh rates and fast response times. Also skip it if you work in a bright room, since 250 nits won't cut it. And if you do a lot of video calls, the lack of a built-in camera means you'll be buying a separate webcam anyway.
Verdict
If you want a no-drama monitor for work, streaming, and casual browsing, the Dell S2425H is a great pick. The built-in speakers are genuinely useful, the 100Hz refresh rate is a nice bonus, and setup takes minutes. It's not for gamers or anyone who needs high brightness or HDR. But for a home office or dorm desk, it's a solid, well-liked choice.
