Performance
The Ryzen AI 9 HX 375 is a 12-core chip that sits in the 87th percentile for CPUs, so it's fast, but the real surprise is the NPU. HP claims 55 TOPS of AI performance, which means you can run complex models locally without melting the thing or waiting forever. The integrated Radeon 890M graphics are fine for everyday work but don't expect to game on this. Gaming score is 23 out of 100, which is rough. The 32GB of LPDDR5X RAM is soldered, so you can't upgrade it later, but it's plenty for most people.

vs Competition
The MacBook Pro M4 Max is the obvious rival, and it'll beat the EliteBook on raw performance and battery life, but you'll pay more and lose the touchscreen. The ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 is a better pick if you want gaming chops with a similar footprint, but its screen isn't as color-accurate for creative work. The Samsung Galaxy Book5 Pro is thinner and lighter, but the HP has more RAM and a better port selection. For pure business AI work, the EliteBook holds its own.

Value & Pricing
At USD 2,659 to 2,727 in the US, this is a premium business machine, and you're paying for that OLED screen and AI processor. In Canada, the price spread is wild, from CAD 3,029 to CAD 4,129 across three listings, so shop around. The best deal we see is at the lower end of that CAD range. If you need local AI performance and a stunning display, it's worth it. If you just need a basic work laptop, you're overpaying.

Подробнее
Overview
The HP EliteBook X G1a is a business laptop that actually feels exciting, mostly because of that 14-inch 2.8K OLED screen. It's a 96th percentile panel in our database, which means it's one of the best displays you can get on a notebook right now. The AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 375 with 32GB of RAM makes this a serious workhorse for local AI tasks and heavy multitasking.
Common Questions
Q: Can this laptop handle gaming?
No. The integrated Radeon 890M is fine for casual stuff, but our gaming score is 23 out of 100. Get a laptop with a discrete GPU if you want to play anything modern.
Q: Is the RAM upgradeable?
Nope. The 32GB of LPDDR5X is soldered to the board. You're stuck with what you buy, so make sure 32GB is enough for your workload.
Q: How's the battery life?
The 74Wh battery is decent for a 14-inch OLED laptop, but that high-res 120Hz screen will drain it faster than a standard panel. Expect a full workday with light use, but keep a charger handy for heavy AI tasks.
Who Should Skip This
If you're looking for a gaming laptop or anything with serious graphics power, this isn't it. Go get an ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 or a Lenovo Legion Pro instead. If you just need a basic office machine, you're spending way too much here.
Verdict
Buy the HP EliteBook X G1a if you want a business laptop with a top-tier OLED screen and serious local AI muscle. It's not for gamers, and the reliability score gives us pause, but for the right user, this is a standout machine. Just don't pay full price in Canada.
