Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Z Fold5 Blue 512GB

The Z Fold5's feature set is in the 95th percentile, making it one of the most capable phones we've tested. Performance is a standout at the 91st percentile thanks to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and 12GB of RAM. The big trade-off is battery life, which scored a mediocre 67.7, so keep a charger handy.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset keeps this thing flying. With 12GB of RAM backing it up, app switching and multitasking across that big folding screen is buttery smooth. Our benchmarks put it in the 91st percentile for performance, meaning it outpaces the vast majority of phones on the market. The 512GB of storage is generous and means you won't be sweating game installs or 4K video files. The camera system is a standout too, landing in the 86th percentile. The 50MP main sensor with OIS and 3x optical zoom delivers crisp, reliable shots, though it's not quite dethroning the absolute best camera phones out there.

Stacked against the Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max, the Fold5 trades blows differently. The iPhone will likely crush it in battery life and social proof, but the Fold5's folding screen and 95th percentile feature set offer a completely different experience. The Motorola Razr Ultra 2025 is a more direct foldable rival, but it takes a clamshell approach versus the Fold5's tablet-style design. The OnePlus 13 and Xiaomi 15T Pro will likely offer faster charging and better battery scores, but they can't match the sheer multitasking real estate of that 7.6-inch inner display. The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra and Google Pixel 10 Pro XL are now in the top 5 mix too, and both bring serious camera and battery credentials to the table, though neither can fold in half.

Pricing on the Z Fold5 is all over the map, with a staggering $18,721 spread between vendors. You can snag a refurbished unit for as low as $514, which is an absolute steal for this level of hardware. At the other end, some listings creep past $19,000, which is frankly absurd. If you're hunting for one, the refurbished market is where the real value lives. Just make sure you're getting a solid warranty, like the 90-day one some sellers offer.

The Galaxy Z Fold5 lands in the 95th percentile for features and connectivity, making it one of the most capable devices in our database. That 7.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED display hits a 120Hz refresh rate and sits in the 83rd percentile for displays, which is strong but not quite chart-topping. The real story here is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and 12GB of RAM combo, pushing performance into the 91st percentile. You're getting a genuine pocket-sized tablet that doesn't compromise on raw speed.

If battery life is your number one priority, look elsewhere. A score of 67.7 is a real weak spot, and the 25W charging won't get you back up and running as quickly as rivals from OnePlus or Xiaomi. Also, if you're not going to actually use the big folding screen for multitasking or media, you're carrying extra bulk and a mechanical hinge for no reason. A traditional slab phone will likely offer better battery and camera performance for less money.

The Galaxy Z Fold5 is a powerhouse for anyone who wants a tablet that fits in their pocket. The performance and feature set are nearly unmatched, and the IPX8 rating adds peace of mind you don't often get with foldables. The battery life is a real compromise, and you'll want to keep a charger nearby, but the sheer utility of that big folding screen makes it easy to forgive. If you can find a good refurbished deal, it's a no-brainer.
