Samsung U7900F Series UN58U7900FFXZC 58"
The Direct LED panel with Motion Xcelerator processing delivers smooth motion for sports and TV, though its HDR performance is limited by the lack of local dimming. Built-in Tizen OS provides a responsive smart platform with both Alexa and Google Assistant for hands-free control without an external device. This 58-inch 4K TV is best for budget-conscious buyers who prioritize a large screen and integrated voice assistants for casual streaming in well-lit living rooms.

Performance
The display itself lands in the 68th percentile, which is solid middle-of-the-pack territory. You get a 58-inch 4K panel with Direct LED backlighting, so brightness and uniformity are decent but not going to blow you away. Picture quality and HDR both sit at the 36th percentile, which means this TV is underwhelming when it comes to the stuff that actually makes 4K shine. Motion Xcelerator helps with fast-moving scenes, but the gaming score of 25.4 out of 100 tells you this isn't a serious gaming display. The 18th percentile gaming ranking backs that up. Audio is a real weak spot at the 13th percentile, and connectivity is dead last at the 7th percentile. You'll want a soundbar and you might find yourself short on ports.

vs Competition
Stacked against the competition, this Samsung gets outclassed pretty quickly. The LG C5 OLED55C5PUA and Sony BRAVIA 5 K65XR50 are in a completely different league for picture quality and HDR, though they cost significantly more. The TCL QM8K Series 75QM8K and Hisense U8 Series 65U8QG both offer better gaming performance and connectivity at competitive prices. Even the Roku Pro Series 55R8C5 has a smarter, simpler interface for streaming. Where the Samsung wins is brand trust and that massive review count. But if you're comparing specs instead of logos, the U7900F struggles to justify itself against similarly priced alternatives.

Value & Pricing
At CAD 550 from Canadian retailers, this is a budget play. You're getting a 58-inch 4K screen with a smart platform that actually works well, and the 88th percentile social proof suggests most buyers feel good about their purchase. But value is about what you're not getting too. The 36th percentile picture quality and 7th percentile connectivity mean you're paying for size and brand recognition more than performance. If you just want a big screen for casual streaming and don't care about gaming or audio, the price is fair. If you want anything more, you'll be spending extra on a soundbar and maybe a streaming stick to make up for the weak spots.

Overview
The Samsung U7900F Series UN58U7900FFXZC is a 58-inch 4K LED TV that leans hard on the Samsung name and a 4.6-star rating from over 6,000 buyers. That social proof sits in the 88th percentile, which is genuinely impressive. But the spec sheet tells a more modest story. This is a Direct LED panel with HDR support, Motion Xcelerator, and Tizen smarts, priced around CAD 550. It's a budget-friendly big screen, not a performance monster.
Common Questions
Q: Is this TV good for gaming?
Not really. The gaming score is 25.4 out of 100, which puts it in the 18th percentile. Motion Xcelerator helps with smooth motion, but the lack of gaming-focused features and weak connectivity hold it back.
Q: How is the picture quality compared to other 4K TVs?
Picture quality sits at the 36th percentile, which is below average. The 58-inch 4K Direct LED panel is decent, but HDR performance is also at the 36th percentile, so you won't get the punchy highlights you'd see on higher-end sets.
Q: Does this TV have good built-in audio?
No, audio is a weak spot at the 13th percentile. Most buyers will want to add a soundbar to get decent sound quality.
Who Should Skip This
Skip this one if you care about gaming, audio, or connectivity. The 25.4 out of 100 gaming score and 18th percentile ranking mean serious gamers will be frustrated. Audio at the 13th percentile is rough, and connectivity at the 7th percentile is one of the worst we've seen. If you want a TV for a home theater setup with multiple devices, look elsewhere. The TCL QM8K or Hisense U8 Series will serve you much better.
Verdict
The Samsung U7900F Series UN58U7900FFXZC is a fine TV if your main goal is a big, reliable 4K screen for casual viewing. The 4.6-star rating from over 6,000 buyers says most people are happy with it. But the data is clear: picture quality, HDR, gaming, audio, and connectivity all rank below average. At CAD 550, you're paying for the Samsung name and a decent display, not a standout performer. If you can stretch your budget or wait for a sale on a TCL or Hisense, you'll get more for your money.
