Performance
The i5-13420H and RTX 4050 combo handles 1080p gaming without much drama. DLSS 3.5 helps push frame rates higher in supported titles, and the 165Hz panel means you can actually see those extra frames. 16GB of DDR5 is enough for gaming and light streaming, and the 1TB Gen 4 SSD loads games fast. The CPU is middle of the pack for this category, so don't expect it to crush heavy video editing or CPU-bound workloads. For gaming, the GPU does the heavy lifting and it's one of the better options at this price.

vs Competition
Against the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14, the Nitro V 15 gives up build quality, portability, and reliability but costs significantly less. The HP OMEN Transcend 14 is lighter and better built, but you'll pay for that privilege. The Lenovo ThinkPad P14s is a different animal entirely, aimed at workstation users rather than gamers. If you want the cheapest path to RTX 4050 gaming, the Nitro V 15 wins. If you want something that feels premium and lasts, the G14 or OMEN are worth the extra money.

Value & Pricing
At USD 1,159 in the US, this is a fair deal for an RTX 4050 laptop with 16GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD. European buyers should shop around though. Prices range from EUR 1,409 to EUR 1,550 across ES, FR, and IT listings. That's a EUR 141 spread for the same machine, so check which store has the lower price before you commit. The included foldable laptop stand is a nice throw-in, but it doesn't move the needle much on value.

Overview
The Acer Nitro V 15 is a budget gaming laptop that gets the important stuff right. You get an RTX 4050, 16GB of DDR5, and a 165Hz display for a price that won't make your wallet file a restraining order. It's not going to blow anyone away with build quality, but for 1080p gaming it's a solid entry point.
Our database puts it at 72.1 for gaming, which is respectable for this class. The port selection is a standout, storage is strong, and the GPU sits well above average. But reliability scores are rough, and that's worth knowing before you hand over your cash.
Common Questions
Q: Can this laptop run modern games at 60+ FPS?
Yes, the RTX 4050 with DLSS 3.5 handles most modern titles at 1080p with high settings and solid frame rates. The 165Hz display lets you push beyond 60 FPS in esports titles.
Q: Is the RAM and storage upgradeable?
The 16GB DDR5 RAM is expandable to 32GB, and the 1TB NVMe SSD can be swapped for a larger drive if needed.
Q: How is the battery life for everyday use?

Who Should Skip This
Skip this if you need a laptop that travels well or lasts for years without issues. The 2.11kg weight and poor reliability scores make it a bad fit for commuters or anyone who needs a dependable daily driver. If portability matters, look at the HP OMEN Transcend 14 or ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 instead.
Verdict
This is a solid pick for first-time gaming laptop buyers or anyone who wants RTX 4050 performance without spending a fortune. It's not the most portable or reliable option out there, but it delivers where it counts for 1080p gaming. If you're okay with a plastic build and a finicky charger, you'll get a lot of gaming for your money.
