Apple MacBook Air 13.6" M5 Silver 2026
The M5 10-core chip built on a 3nm process and 32GB unified RAM enable fluid AI workflows in a fanless aluminum chassis at just 1.24kg. Its 13.6-inch Liquid Retina display reaches 500 nits, and the 12MP Center Stage camera with Desk View elevates video calls and content clarity without adding bulk. This machine suits business travelers and students needing a portable, silent laptop for Apple Intelligence and on-device LLM tasks, not gaming.

The 30-Second Version
The MacBook Air M5 is a silent, featherweight beast that makes everyday tasks feel effortless. Just don't buy it for gaming, and maybe skip the 4TB config unless you really need it.

Факти
Performance
The M5 chip is the real story. Apple's 10-core CPU and 10-core GPU chew through everyday tasks without breaking a sweat, and the 16-core Neural Engine means AI workloads that would choke older machines just kind of happen. The 4TB SSD is the 99th percentile for storage in our database, which is wild for a laptop that weighs 1.24kg. The screen is also a standout, 500 nits of brightness and that 2560x1664 resolution put it well above average. The only real weak spot is gaming, which lands at a disappointing 26.5 out of 100. This is not a gaming laptop, and it doesn't pretend to be.

vs Competition
The MacBook Air M5 doesn't really compete with the gaming laptops in our database like the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 or the MSI Raider. Those machines will destroy it in gaming, but they're heavier, louder, and have worse battery life. The Microsoft Surface Laptop 7th Edition is the closest real competitor, and it's a solid Windows alternative with a great screen and build quality. But the M5 chip's efficiency and Apple's ecosystem integration give the Air the edge for most people who don't need Windows.

Ціна
Value & Pricing
This config is not cheap. The US listing shows $3,499, and the Canadian one is CAD 3,721. That's a lot of money for a MacBook Air, but you're paying for the 4TB SSD and 32GB of RAM, which is a niche config. If you need that much storage in a silent, portable machine, it's worth it. If you don't, save your money and get a lower-tier config.
Докладніше
Overview
The MacBook Air M5 is Apple doing what Apple does best: taking an already excellent laptop and making it faster, quieter, and more capable without changing what people love about it. The headline here is the M5 chip. It's built on a 3nm process and paired with 32GB of unified RAM and a 4TB SSD in this config, which is a frankly absurd amount of storage for a machine this thin. If you want a laptop that disappears into your bag and never makes a sound, this is it.
Common Questions
Q: Is the MacBook Air M5 good for gaming?
No. The integrated GPU scores a 26.5 out of 100 for gaming in our database. It'll handle casual stuff like Stardew Valley or older titles, but don't expect to run modern AAA games at anything close to playable settings. Get a gaming laptop if that's your priority.
Q: Is 32GB of RAM enough for the M5?
For almost everyone, yes. 32GB of unified RAM is plenty for heavy multitasking, photo and video editing, and even some AI work. Unless you're running massive LLMs locally, you won't hit the ceiling.
Q: Should I get the 4TB SSD config?
Only if you know you need it. 4TB is a ton of storage, and it's the main reason this config costs $3,499. Most people are fine with 512GB or 1TB and an external drive. But if you work with huge files and hate dongles, this is the one.
Who Should Skip This
If you're looking for a gaming laptop, this isn't it. Go get an ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 or an MSI Raider instead. And if you don't need 4TB of storage, skip this config entirely and save yourself a pile of cash with a lower-tier MacBook Air.
Verdict
The MacBook Air M5 is the best ultraportable laptop you can buy right now, full stop. It's not for gamers, and the port situation is annoying, but for students, business users, and anyone who wants a silent, fast, and beautifully built machine, this is the one to get. The 4TB config is overkill for most, but if you need the storage, it's a monster.
