ASUS GeForce RTX 5090 TUF Gaming 32GB GDDR7

The TUF 5090 is a 4K monster that runs cool and quiet, but it's huge and some units whine like a toddler. Buy it if you can find it near MSRP, skip it if you're paying scalper markup.

The numbers here are stupid good. A PassMark G3D score of 38,845 puts it in the top tier of our entire database, and the 4K gaming score of 99.8 out of 100 is basically a mic drop. What surprised us most wasn't the raw speed though, it was the thermals. Three Axial-tech fans and a vapor chamber keep this 360W beast surprisingly composed under load. Owners consistently mention how quiet it runs, which is rare for a card this powerful. The phase-change thermal pad is a nice touch too, it should outlast traditional paste for people who run their cards hard for years.

The RTX 5090 TUF sits in a weird spot. It's competing against cards like the ASUS ProArt RTX 5080 and the MSI GAMING TRIO G507T-16GTC, but those are in a completely different performance class. The TUF 5090 crushes them in raw raster and ray tracing, but you're paying double or triple for that privilege. If you're on a 1440p monitor, the MSI Ventus RTX 5070 Ti 16G VENTUS 3X PZ OC gets you 90% of the experience for a fraction of the cost. The TUF 5090 is for people who want 4K at high refresh rates and don't care what it costs.

Let's be real about the price. We're seeing this card listed anywhere from USD 3,350 to USD 9,019 across US retailers, and CAD 4,674 to CAD 12,859 in Canada. That spread is insane. If you're paying anything close to the high end, you're getting fleeced. The best US deal we're seeing is at the lower end of that range, so shop around before you commit. Is it worth it? For pure 4K gaming dominance, yes, if you can find it near the low end. At the inflated prices, absolutely not.

The ASUS TUF Gaming RTX 5090 is the card you buy when you want flagship 4K performance without the liquid cooling hassle or the flashy RGB circus. It's a 3.6-slot monster with 32GB of GDDR7 and 21,760 CUDA cores, and it absolutely shreds modern games. The one thing to know? This is the practical enthusiast's 5090. It runs cool, stays quiet, and just works, assuming your case can actually fit the thing.

If you're gaming at 1440p or you're still on a 30-series card and happy with it, this isn't your upgrade. The RTX 5070 Ti or 5080 will save you a pile of cash and still crush 1440p. Also skip this if you have a compact case, the 3.6-slot design simply won't fit. And if you're sensitive to high-pitched noises, the coil whine reports are frequent enough to be a real concern.

The ASUS TUF Gaming RTX 5090 is the air-cooled 5090 to get. It nails the fundamentals: cool, quiet, and brutally fast. The coil whine reports are concerning, and the size is genuinely problematic for smaller builds, but if you have the space and the budget, this card delivers. Just don't pay scalper prices. Wait for stock to normalize or hunt for the low end of that USD 3,350 range.
