7Artisans 18mm F5.6 Camera 18mm
Panoramica
The 30-Second Version
A tiny 146 gram full frame ultra-wide for under USD 90. Best-in-class build and macro scores, but the fixed f/5.6 aperture means bright light only. Worth it as a niche travel lens, not as your main glass.
Pros & Cons

Le prove
Performance
For a sub-USD 90 lens, the optical output is surprisingly decent. Our scores put macro performance at the absolute top of the charts, which makes sense given the 32mm minimum focus distance. Build quality is one of the best we've seen in this class, solid metal and a smooth focus ring. Bokeh lands in impressive territory too. But the optical score overall sits in the disappointing range, and the fixed f/5.6 aperture really limits what you can do. The 7 elements in 5 groups with 2 ED elements do a solid job controlling distortion and fringing in good light, but the diffraction ceiling means you shouldn't expect razor sharp corners wide open, because wide open is all you get.

vs Competition
Stacked against the Sony 16-50mm PZ kit lens, this 7Artisans gives you a wider full frame image circle and better build, but you lose autofocus and zoom flexibility. The Viltrox AF 20mm F2.8 FE costs more but gets you autofocus and over two stops more light, which is a much more practical everyday prime. The Canon EF-S 10-18mm brings zoom range and stabilization, though you'd need an adapter for Sony. The Meike 56mm F1.7 is a totally different beast, more of a portrait lens. Honestly, if you want the cheapest way into ultra-wide full frame on Sony, the 7Artisans wins. If you want to actually shoot in varied light, any of the others make more sense.

Prezzo
Value & Pricing
Price is where this lens earns its keep. US listings run between USD 62 and USD 89, with Amazon sitting at the low end of that range. That's cheaper than most camera bags. For CAD buyers it's CAD 85 to CAD 131, and again the lower end is the better deal. You're getting a niche tool with genuinely good build quality for less than a night out. Just don't expect zoom lens versatility at this price, because you're not getting it.

Overview
This is a tiny, all-metal pancake lens that weighs 146 grams and barely sticks out from your camera body. It's a manual focus 18mm prime for Sony E-mount full frame cameras, and at this price it's basically an impulse buy for anyone who wants a walkaround ultra-wide. The 98.7 degree field of view is genuinely expansive for landscapes, street scenes, and tight interiors.
But the fixed f/5.6 aperture is the whole story here. In bright light, this thing is a joy. Indoors or after sunset, you'll be cranking ISO or reaching for a tripod. It's a specialist tool, not a do-everything lens.
Common Questions
Q: Will this lens work on my APS-C Sony camera?
Yes, it's designed for full frame E-mount but mounts natively on APS-C bodies too. On an a6000 series camera you'll get roughly a 27mm equivalent field of view.
Q: Is the f/5.6 aperture a problem for everyday shooting?
Only in dim conditions. Outdoors during the day it's fine, but indoors or at night you'll need to push ISO or use a tripod since you can't open up wider than f/5.6.
Q: Does it have autofocus?
No, this is manual focus only. At 18mm with f/5.6 the depth of field is deep, so scale focusing and zone focusing work well, but there's no AF motor.
Who Should Skip This
If you shoot video, events, or anything that moves, skip this. No autofocus plus a fixed f/5.6 aperture is a recipe for missed shots. Same goes for low light shooters, astrophotographers, or anyone who wants a single lens that does everything. This is not that lens.
Verdict
Buy this if you shoot landscapes or city scenes in daylight and want the smallest possible full frame setup. Manual focus at 18mm is forgiving since almost everything is in focus at f/5.6 anyway. It's a fantastic second lens for travel when you know you'll be outside. If you need a general purpose prime, keep looking.
