Performance
The 60Hz refresh rate and 2ms response time are fine for office work, and FreeSync is a nice touch if you're doing light gaming on the go. But the 300 nits brightness and 8-bit+FRC color put this panel firmly in the middle of the pack. It's not bad, it's just not going to make your photos pop or your movies look cinematic. The dual 1W speakers are there, but you'll want headphones.

vs Competition
If you're cross-shopping, the ASUS TUF Gaming VG34VQL1B and HP OMEN 27qs G2 are in a different league for gaming and color, but they're also big, heavy, and need a desk. The Dell S2725QC is a better all-around monitor if you don't need portability. The Fold's real competition is other portable panels, and against those, its 98th percentile compactness and 90th percentile connectivity make it a standout. Just don't expect desktop monitor performance from a 454-gram screen.

Value & Pricing
Pricing is all over the map depending on where you shop. In the US, you'll see it from USD 100 to USD 130, and the cheapest listing is the one to grab. Canadian buyers face a wider spread, CAD 137 to CAD 207, so shop around before you commit. For a portable monitor with this feature set and a two-year warranty, the low end of that range is a solid deal. The high end starts to feel like you're paying a premium for portability.

Overview
The Mobile Pixels Fold is a featherweight champion for road warriors. At 454 grams, it's basically a second screen you forget is in your bag until you need it. The 15.6-inch 1080p IPS panel gets the job done for spreadsheets, Slack, and the occasional video call, but don't expect it to wow you with color or brightness. This is a productivity tool first, entertainment device a distant second.
Common Questions
Q: Does the Mobile Pixels Fold work with my MacBook?
Yes, it's plug and play with macOS over USB-C. You'll get video and power through a single cable, which is exactly what you want when you're working from a coffee shop.
Q: Can I use this as my only monitor?
You can, but I wouldn't. The 15.6-inch size and 300 nits brightness are fine for a secondary display, but as a daily driver you'll miss the size and brightness of a proper desktop monitor pretty quickly.
Q: Does it need external power?
It can run off your laptop's USB-C port, but that will drain your battery faster. If you're plugging in via HDMI, you'll need a separate power source. The included cables cover most setups.
Who Should Skip This
If you're looking for a monitor to watch movies or play games on, this isn't it. The 300 nits brightness and average color performance will leave you underwhelmed. Go grab a proper desktop monitor like the Dell S2725QC instead, and leave the Fold to the road warriors who just need more screen real estate for documents and email.
Verdict
The Mobile Pixels Fold is a no-brainer if you travel constantly and need a second screen that won't weigh you down. It's light, well-connected, and the magnetic cover is genuinely clever. But if you're buying this as your primary display or hoping for great movie nights, look elsewhere. This is a workhorse for spreadsheets and documents, not a home theater.
