Sony WFC700N/B

The Sony WF-C700N are true wireless noise-canceling earbuds that deliver best-in-class ANC for their price. They sound great, fit comfortably, and offer a robust feature set including multipoint and a handy companion app. With an overall score of 90, they're now one of the strongest picks in their class. If you want to block out the world on a budget, these are an easy recommendation.

The noise canceling is the star of the show. In our database, the WF-C700N sits in the 97th percentile for ANC, which is frankly ridiculous for earbuds that aren't trying to compete with Sony's own $300 flagship. It hammers down on the low-end rumble of a bus or airplane, making them a strong pick for travel and commuting. The sound profile is well above average, landing in the 79th percentile. It's not going to dethrone a set of Sennheisers for pure detail, but the tuning is pleasant and non-fatiguing, with a nice punch in the bass that doesn't muddy the mids. Call quality is also a standout, scoring in the 80th percentile for the mic. The two mics and noise reduction do a decent job of pulling your voice out of a windy street, so you won't sound like you're calling from inside a tornado. Battery life is a solid 15 hours total with the case, and that 10-minute quick charge for an hour of playback is a lifesaver when you're running out the door.

Stacked against the Samsung Galaxy Buds3 Pro, the Sonys hold their own surprisingly well in the ANC department but fall behind in overall sound refinement and build quality. The Samsungs feel more premium and offer better water resistance, but they'll also cost you significantly more. The Sennheiser MOMENTUM True Wireless 4 are in a different league for audio quality, delivering a much wider soundstage and better detail, but again, you're paying a premium for that audiophile tuning. Where the WF-C700N really shines is against something like the EarFun Air Pro 4+. The EarFun buds are a great budget option, but the Sony's noise canceling is noticeably more effective, and the overall sound is more polished. If ANC is your top priority and you're on a tighter budget, the Sonys are the clear winner here. That said, the competitive field has gotten tougher lately. The Technics EAH-AZ100, Sony WF-1000XM6, Apple AirPods Pro 3, and Soundcore P31i have all entered the top five, and each brings something different to the table. The AirPods Pro 3 are the obvious pick for iPhone owners who want the smoothest experience, while the WF-1000XM6 is the natural step up if you want Sony's best sound and ANC. The Technics and Soundcore models are also worth a look if you're cross-shopping in this range, but the WF-C700N still holds its own as the value-focused option with seriously capable noise canceling.

Pricing on these is all over the map, with a wild spread from $60 to $6490 across different vendors. Obviously, ignore the crazy high outliers. The real sweet spot is finding them at the lower end of that range, where they become an absolute steal. At around $100 or less, you're getting noise canceling that punches way above its weight, making them a much smarter buy than a lot of other budget earbuds. If you see them for a good price, they easily out-value competitors like the standard AirPods, which don't offer any noise canceling at all.

Sony's WF-C700N earbuds are the pair you grab when you want solid noise canceling without spending flagship money. They pack a lot of Sony's audio tech into a small, colorful package, and the ANC performance is the absolute best right now for this price bracket. If you've been hunting for a comfortable set of true wireless earbuds for your daily commute or just to tune out a noisy office, these should be on your radar. The 5mm drivers push out a clean, balanced sound, and Sony's DSEE upscaling helps breathe some life back into compressed tracks from Spotify or YouTube Music. You're getting Bluetooth 5.2 with multipoint, so switching between your laptop and phone is painless, and an IPX4 rating means you don't have to panic if you get caught in the rain. The companion app is a big part of the experience here, letting you tweak the EQ and adjust the adaptive noise canceling, which is a nice touch at this level.

Fitness junkies should probably look elsewhere. The IPX4 rating is fine for a bit of sweat, but the fit isn't locked-in enough for burpees or sprints, and our data shows fitness is their weakest area. Check out the JBL Endurance Peak 4 for a more secure, workout-ready design. Audiophiles chasing the absolute best sound quality will also want to step up to the Sennheiser MOMENTUM True Wireless 4, as the Sonys lack support for high-bitrate codecs like LDAC.

If you want top-tier noise canceling without emptying your wallet, just buy these. The WF-C700N are a fantastic pair of everyday earbuds that nail the basics and then some. They're perfect for commuters, students, or anyone working in a noisy environment who needs to focus. The sound is enjoyable, calls are clear, and the battery is reliable. The biggest annoyance is the reliance on the app for features like the full EQ, but once you set it up, you can mostly forget about it. With the overall score now sitting at 90, these have cemented themselves as one of the best values in true wireless earbuds right now. For the price you can often find them at, there's very little to complain about.
