We were genuinely surprised by the port selection. It's a standout, landing in the 96th percentile of our database. You get Thunderbolt 4, HDMI 2.1, Ethernet, and plenty of USB-A and C. That's better connectivity than many laptops costing twice as much. The Core 7 240H CPU is also a strong point, well above average for this class, making quick work of spreadsheets, dozens of browser tabs, and coding projects. The integrated graphics are middle of the pack, which is perfectly fine unless you plan to game, where this machine completely falls flat.

The ThinkBook 16 G8 goes head-to-head with the HP OmniBook X Flip and the MSI Prestige. The HP has a much nicer, more portable design and a better screen, but you'll pay for it and lose the Ethernet port. The MSI Prestige is a closer match on price and ports, but the Lenovo's CPU is a step up. If you're even thinking about an Apple MacBook Pro M5 Pro, you're in a different tax bracket and performance universe entirely. For pure office productivity per dollar, the Lenovo is the smarter buy over the Samsung Galaxy Book5 Pro, which is sleeker but pricier for similar real-world performance.

The price spread on this thing is wild, ranging from $909 to $2047 across vendors. At the low end, it's a fantastic deal for a business laptop with these specs and Windows 11 Pro. At the high end, you're getting ripped off. Our advice: hunt for the deal. Memory Express and Newegg seem to be the places to check for the best price, and at around $900, it's a no-brainer for office work.

The Lenovo ThinkBook 16 G8 is the office workhorse that won't break the bank or your back. It's not trying to be a gaming rig or a creative powerhouse, and it's all the better for it. The one thing to know is this: you're getting a solid, well-connected 16-inch laptop with a surprisingly capable Intel Core 7 240H chip for a price that, if you shop smart, feels like a steal. Just don't expect the screen to wow you.

If you're looking for a laptop with a gorgeous display for creative work or media consumption, this isn't it. Go get an HP OmniBook X Flip or a MacBook Air instead. And if you need any kind of gaming performance, just walk away and look at something with a dedicated GPU.
