The Sony a7 III is a solid full-frame photography camera with snappy autofocus, but it's badly dated for video. No stabilization and a fixed screen are dealbreakers for vlogging. Only worth it if you find a killer deal on the low end of its massive price range.

Even the Panasonic LUMIX GH7, with a smaller sensor, runs circles around the a7 III for dedicated video work. The Sony's main advantage now is its price on the used market and that huge library of E-mount lenses.

Pricing on this kit is all over the map, with a wild spread from $2,098 to over half a million dollars, so you absolutely need to shop around. At the low end, grabbing a full-frame body with two lenses is a decent entry point into the Sony system. But if you're paying anywhere near the higher end of that range, you're getting fleeced. For the money, you can find newer bodies with stabilization and better video features.

The Sony a7 III was a landmark camera when it dropped, and this bundle tosses in a 28-70mm zoom and a 50mm f/1.8 prime to get you started. It's a full-frame workhorse built for stills, with Eye AF that still holds its own for portraits and events. But let's be real, the specs here are showing their age, especially the fixed display and total lack of stabilization. This is a photography-first body that happens to shoot video, not a true hybrid.

Vloggers and solo video creators should run, not walk, away from this. The lack of stabilization and a flip screen will make your life miserable. If you shoot fast action or sports, the slow burst rate will leave you missing key moments. Look at a used Sony a6600 or a newer full-frame body instead.

The Sony a7 III is a capable stills camera for beginners or budget-conscious shooters who can find it at a low price. It's a terrible choice for vloggers and a mediocre one for serious video work. If you just want to take great photos and don't need the latest bells and whistles, it'll serve you well. Everyone else should look at newer options.
