We waren eerlijk gezegd verbaasd over de scherpte. Zelfs wijd open op f/1.8 zijn de details in het centrum uitstekend, en het wordt alleen maar beter als je een stopje diafragmeert. De bokeh is met een 94e percentiel score een van de beste die we in een groothoeklens hebben gezien, zacht en romig, al is het niet de primaire reden om een 16mm te kopen. De STM-autofocus is snel en muisstil, en de oogherkenning op Sony-camera's werkt feilloos. Het enige dat een beetje tegenvalt, is de scherpte in de hoeken op f/1.8, die wat zacht is, en de vignettering is duidelijk aanwezig. Maar hey, dat is correctie voor in de post-productie.
