7Artisans 18mm f5.6 18mm
Its 146g pancake design with full-frame coverage and a 98.7° ultrawide angle of view makes it an exceptionally portable lens for expansive scenes. The constant f/5.6 aperture and manual focus design prioritize a slim profile and deliberate shooting over low-light speed. This lens is best for landscape and street photographers who want a tiny, lightweight prime for daylight walkaround use on Sony E-mount bodies.
概要
The 30-Second Version
The 7Artisans 18mm f/5.6 is a featherweight full-frame ultrawide with surprisingly good build quality for under USD 90. The fixed f/5.6 aperture and manual focus limit it to daylight shooting, but it's a fun, cheap way to go wide. Worth it if you know what you're signing up for.

Performance
The 10-blade diaphragm gives smoother bokeh than you'd expect from an f/5.6 lens, and the two ED elements keep chromatic aberration mostly in check. Sharpness is decent in the center but falls off at the edges, which is pretty normal for budget ultrawides. The fixed f/5.6 aperture is the big limitation here. You can't stop down for more depth of field or open up for less. It's f/5.6 or nothing. That makes it fine for landscapes and street scenes in good light, but rough for anything moving or dimly lit. The 300mm minimum focus distance isn't great either, so don't expect close-up shots.

vs Competition
Against the Viltrox AF 35mm f/1.7 XF, the 7Artisans loses on autofocus and aperture speed but wins on size and full-frame coverage. The Sony E PZ 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS is more versatile with its zoom range and stabilization, but it's an APS-C lens and feels plasticky next to the 7Artisans. The Nikon AF-P DX 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR is similarly more flexible but heavier and crop-sensor only. If you want a dedicated ultrawide prime for full-frame on a budget, the 7Artisans is the only one in this group that does that. If you need autofocus or zoom flexibility, any of the others make more sense.

Value & Pricing
At USD 62 to USD 89 across US listings, this lens is cheap enough to be an impulse buy. The best deal we're seeing is at the low end of that range, around USD 62, which makes it a no-brainer if you want to experiment with ultrawide full-frame shots. Canadian buyers see a wider spread, CAD 85 to CAD 131, so shop around before pulling the trigger. For the money, you're getting solid build quality and a genuinely useful focal length. Just don't expect it to replace a more versatile lens.

Price History
詳細情報
Overview
The 7Artisans 18mm f/5.6 is a tiny pancake prime that covers full-frame and weighs almost nothing. At 146g with a 49mm filter thread, it's basically a lens cap that happens to take photos. The 98.7 degree view is properly wide, and the build quality is surprisingly solid for the price.
But this is a one-trick pony. Constant f/5.6 means you need daylight or a camera with great high ISO performance. Manual focus only, no stabilization, no weather sealing. If you know exactly what you're getting into, it's a fun little lens. If you expect it to replace a zoom or handle low light, you'll be disappointed fast.
Common Questions
Q: Can I use this lens in low light?
Not really. The fixed f/5.6 aperture means you'll need high ISO or a tripod once the sun drops. Full-frame bodies help, but this is a daylight lens.
Q: Does it work on APS-C cameras?
Yes, it mounts on Sony E and Nikon Z APS-C bodies, but you'll get a tighter field of view due to the crop factor. On APS-C it behaves more like a 27mm lens.
Q: Is the manual focus hard to use?
It depends on your eyesight and patience. The focus ring is smooth, but there's no focus confirmation or electronic aid. If you struggle with manual focus, this lens will frustrate you.
Who Should Skip This
Skip this if you need autofocus for moving subjects, shoot in low light often, or want a single lens that does everything. The fixed f/5.6 and manual-only focus make it a poor choice for events, wildlife, or video work. If you're new to photography and want something that just works, look at a kit zoom instead.
Verdict
Buy this if you shoot landscapes, cityscapes, or environmental portraits in good light and don't mind focusing manually. It's a great second or third lens for Sony E or Nikon Z full-frame shooters who want something pocketable. The fixed f/5.6 and manual focus mean it's not for beginners who want point-and-shoot convenience. But for the price, it's a fun way to go wide without breaking the bank.
