Apple MacBook Pro 14.2" M5 Max Space Black 2026
ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 14" GA403WW-G14.R95080 Platinum White 2025
Buy the MacBook Pro M5 Max if you're a developer, video editor, or student who needs a silent, powerful machine with 64GB of RAM and 8TB of storage that will last all day on battery.
Buy the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 if you want a lightweight gaming laptop that doesn't compromise on frame rates, and you're okay with some fan noise and software tweaking to get the best battery life.
Key Differences
- The MacBook's M5 Max scores 57,744 in multi-core CPU benchmarks versus the G14's 35,028, a 1.6x gap that shows up in compile times, rendering, and heavy multitasking.
- The G14's RTX 5080 hits 35,666 in GPU benchmarks compared to the MacBook's 22,130, so the ASUS wins by 1.6x for gaming and GPU-heavy creative work despite having a discrete GPU versus Apple's integrated one.
- Storage and RAM are no contest: the MacBook ships with 64GB RAM and 8TB NVMe storage, while the G14 has 32GB and 2TB, which matters if you work with large video projects or virtual machines.
- The MacBook's Mini-LED display hits 1600 nits brightness versus the G14's 500-nit OLED, so Apple wins for HDR content and outdoor use, but the G14's OLED panel gives you perfect blacks and better contrast for gaming in dark rooms.
- Price is the elephant in the room: $430 for the G14 versus $3,099 for the MacBook, and owners of the G14 consistently praise its build quality and OLED display while griping about fan noise during gaming and Armoury Crate bloatware.
