Microsoft Surface Laptop 15" 7 Black 2025
Apple MacBook Pro 14.2" M4 Max Silver 2024
Grab the Surface Laptop 7 if you want a solid everyday machine for browsing, docs, and streaming with great battery life and a bright screen, all for less than half the MacBook's price.
Buy the MacBook Pro M4 Max if you're a video editor, 3D artist, or developer who needs desktop-class power in a laptop and doesn't flinch at a $3,000+ price tag.
Key Differences
- The MacBook's GPU benchmark score of 17,798 absolutely demolishes the Surface's 59, a 301x gap that means the MacBook handles 4K video editing and 3D rendering while the Surface struggles with anything beyond light photo work.
- The MacBook packs a 4TB SSD and 16 CPU cores versus the Surface's 1TB and 12 cores, so you get 4x the storage and 33% more cores for heavy multitasking and large project files.
- The MacBook's Mini-LED panel hits 1,600 nits at 3024px resolution, while the Surface's IPS screen tops out at 600 nits and 2496px, making the MacBook dramatically better for HDR content and outdoor use.
- The Surface actually wins on connectivity with Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 versus the MacBook's Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3, so it's slightly more future-proof for wireless peripherals and fast home networks.
- Real user reviews give the MacBook a 95/100 sentiment score with zero significant complaints, while the Surface lands at 85/100 with a minor printer connectivity gripe, so the MacBook is the safer bet if you hate troubleshooting.
