• GPU is the elephant in the room: the OMEN packs an NVIDIA RTX 5070 with a 28,703 benchmark score versus the Surface's integrated Adreno graphics scoring 59. That's a 486x gap, so gaming and CUDA-accelerated work are basically OMEN-only territory.
• The OMEN has 32GB of RAM and a 16-core Intel Core Ultra 9 285H with 24MB of L3 cache, while the Surface runs a 12-core Snapdragon X Elite with just 6MB of L3. The Surface clocks higher at 3.4 GHz base, but the OMEN's core count and cache give it a big edge in multi-threaded tasks.
• Display trade-off: the OMEN's 3K OLED panel (2880px) delivers deeper blacks and better contrast, but the Surface's IPS screen hits 600 nits versus 500, so it's easier to read outdoors or in bright rooms.
• Owners of the OMEN consistently praise the premium all-metal build and excellent cooling, but gripe about soldered RAM and a 75W power limit on the RTX 5070 that holds back performance. The Surface has far fewer reviews (8 vs 287), so long-term reliability is less proven.
• The OMEN scores 96 for gaming and 83 for creator work versus the Surface's 8 and 30. For students and business use, the gap narrows to 77 vs 69 and 76 vs 69, so the Surface is competitive if you never touch a GPU-heavy app.
