La Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark III è molto apprezzata per la sua eccellente stabilizzazione dell'immagine, il sistema compatto e leggero e le funzionalità avanzate come la modalità Handheld High Res. Gli utenti che provengono da sistemi full frame apprezzano la portabilità e la costruzione robusta, anche se alcuni notano che la risoluzione del mirino elettronico potrebbe essere migliore e che l'autofocus in condizioni di scarsa illuminazione è in ritardo rispetto a concorrenti come la Nikon D500.
