Microsoft Surface Laptop 15" 7th Edition Platinum 2025
HP OMEN Transcend 14" 14-fb1023dx Shadow Black 2025
Grab the Surface Laptop 7th Edition if you want a thin, quiet, all-day machine for writing, browsing, and light productivity where battery life matters more than raw horsepower.
Buy the HP OMEN Transcend 14 if you need real gaming or creator performance in a compact body, and you're okay trading some battery life for a 3K OLED screen and an RTX 5070.
Key Differences
- GPU performance is a blowout: the HP's RTX 5070 scores 28,703 versus 59 for the Surface's integrated Adreno, a 486x gap that means the HP actually plays modern games while the Surface struggles with anything beyond casual titles.
- The HP packs double the RAM (32GB vs 16GB) and double the storage (1TB vs 512GB), plus a 16-core Intel Core Ultra 9 285H against the Surface's 12-core Snapdragon X Elite, so multitasking and heavy workloads favor the OMEN hard.
- The Surface fights back on portability and efficiency: it runs cooler and quieter with its ARM chip, and owners consistently praise the screen brightness and smooth trackpad, while HP owners note short battery life in normal mode and soldered RAM you can't upgrade later.
- Display quality tilts to the HP with a 2880px 3K OLED panel versus the Surface's 2496px screen, and HP owners rave about the premium all-metal build and excellent cooling, though the RTX 5070 is capped at 75W so it's not full desktop-class performance.
