Dell Latitude 14" 5420 Gray 2021
Apple MacBook Pro 14.2" M4 Max Silver 2024
Grab the Dell Latitude 5420 if you need a cheap, no-frills business laptop for basic office work, email, and web browsing, and you don't mind rolling the dice on refurbished condition.
Get the MacBook Pro M4 Max if you're a video editor, developer, or creative pro who needs serious horsepower and doesn't flinch at a premium price tag.
Key Differences
- The M4 Max posts a 43,903 multi-core CPU score vs the Latitude's 9,912. That's not a gap, that's a canyon. Rendering a 4K video on the Dell will feel like watching paint dry.
- Display quality is night and day: 1600 nits Mini-LED at 3024px on the MacBook vs 220 nits IPS at 1920px on the Dell. You can actually use the MacBook outdoors. The Dell? Hope you like squinting.
- RAM and storage tell the whole story: 64GB LPDDR5 and 4TB NVMe on the MacBook vs 16GB DDR4 and 512GB SSD on the Dell. The MacBook has more RAM than the Dell has storage.
- Customer sentiment backs this up. MacBook owners report zero significant drawbacks and rave about heavy editing performance. Dell owners mention DOA units, cosmetic blemishes, and leftover corporate software. You get what you pay for.
