Dell Latitude 14" 5420 Gray 2021
ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 14" GA403WW-G14.R95080 Platinum White 2025
Pick the Dell if you need a cheap, reliable machine for email, spreadsheets, and web browsing, and you don't mind buying refurbished.
Grab the ASUS if you want a lightweight laptop that can handle AAA gaming, video editing, or AI workloads without breaking a sweat.
Key Differences
- The ASUS packs an AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 with 12 cores and a multi-core score of 35,028, while the Dell's Core i7 1185G has just 4 cores and scores 9,912. That's not a small gap, it's a different universe.
- GPU performance is night and day: the RTX 5080 in the ASUS scores 35,666 versus 2,593 for the Dell's integrated Intel Iris Xe. The ASUS can run modern games at high settings; the Dell struggles with anything beyond Solitaire.
- Storage and memory: the ASUS gives you 2TB of SSD space and 32GB of LPDDR5X RAM. The Dell ships with 512GB and 16GB of DDR4. You'll run out of room on the Dell fast if you store anything beyond documents.
- The ASUS has a 2880px OLED display that owners consistently rave about, while the Dell's 1920px panel is fine for spreadsheets but nothing special. Real-world reviews put the ASUS at 4.7/5 stars versus 3.9/5 for the Dell.
- The Dell's one spec win is clock speed at 3.0 GHz versus 2.0 GHz, but that's like winning the coin toss in a game you lose 42-0. The ASUS wins on every benchmark that actually matters.
