What Buyers Say
AMD Ryzen 5 3600X 6-core AM4
The AMD Ryzen 5 3600X is widely praised as an outstanding value CPU, delivering excellent gaming and multitasking performance that rivals much more expensive Intel chips. Users appreciate its strong single and multi-threaded capabilities right out of the box, with Precision Boost Overdrive negating the need for manual overclocking. While the included stock cooler works, many recommend an aftermarket cooler for lower temperatures and quieter operation, as the CPU can run hot and the stock fan can be loud. A recurring note is that the non-X 3600 offers nearly identical performance for less money, making the 3600X only worthwhile if found on sale.
Pros
- Excellent value for money
- Strong gaming performance
- Great multitasking and productivity
- Precision Boost Overdrive negates manual overclocking
- Snappy single-core and multi-core performance
Cons
- Stock cooler is noisy and runs hot
- Idle temperatures can spike unexpectedly
- Higher price than non-X 3600 for marginal gains
- Voltage offset needed for lower idle temps
Intel Core Ultra 7 265KF 20-core Intel Socket 1851
Users upgrading from older Intel chips (like the 8700K or 8600K) report a massive performance boost in gaming and productivity, with one noting a 20fps average increase. The CPU runs cool and is praised for its value, especially when bought on discount. Some mention that it's not a worthwhile upgrade for those with recent Intel generations, and one user warns to be careful during installation to avoid bending pins.
Pros
- Huge performance boost from old chips
- Runs cool
- Good value on discount
- Great for gaming and productivity
- Stable with new BIOS updates
Cons
- Not worth upgrade from recent Intel
- Installation risk of bending pins
- Requires new motherboard, RAM, cooler
